Antenatal care

Well supported through your pregnancy: I come to your home, take time for your questions and check regularly how you and your baby are doing.

What you can expect

Questions are always welcome – even the small ones.

  • A thorough first conversation, in your home
  • Regular antenatal check-ups: blood pressure, urine, weight, your baby's position and heartbeat
  • Careful entries in your maternity record (Mutterpass)
  • Advice on complaints such as nausea, back pain or poor sleep
  • Kinesio taping for complaints, if you wish
  • Preparing together for the weeks after the birth and the first time with your baby

Antenatal care with a midwife

In Germany you can have your antenatal check-ups with your midwife, with your gynaecologist, or alternate between the two. Ultrasound scans stay with your doctor's practice.

With me you have one fixed contact person who gets to know you and your family throughout your pregnancy. Appointments take place in your home; we decide together how to share them out.

Visits before the birth

I am there for you between check-ups too: if you have complaints, feel unsure or simply want to talk something through.

Kinesio taping

During pregnancy and after the birth

Elastic tapes on the skin that can help with a range of complaints during pregnancy and after the birth.

More about kinesio taping

What happens during antenatal care?

During antenatal care we check regularly, in your home, how you and your baby are doing: blood pressure, urine, weight, your baby's position and heartbeat. I record the results in your maternity record (Mutterpass). Ultrasound scans are done by your gynaecologist. We decide together how to share out the appointments.

Can I come to your practice?

I do not have a practice to visit. All appointments take place in your home, so you never have to travel with your bump or your baby.

What does it cost and what does health insurance cover?

Midwifery care during pregnancy and after the birth is covered by German statutory health insurance. After the first twelve weeks it covers visits depending on the reason, for example breastfeeding, or on a doctor's prescription. If you have private insurance or receive Beihilfe, please check reimbursement with your insurer beforehand. Kinesio taping is usually not covered. We are happy to discuss the details in person.

Do you still have room around my due date?

That depends on how many families I am caring for around your due date. I keep my availability up to date on MidiAid, where you can check it. You are also welcome to write to me directly and we will sort it out in person.

Let's get to know each other.

A first conversation takes away a lot of uncertainty. Send me a short message and I will be glad to visit you.
