Here you will find answers to what expectant parents ask me most often. Your question is not here? Just write to me.
How do I get in touch?
The easiest way is WhatsApp, the contact form on this website or a call on 0151 55916564. If I am with a family at the moment, I will get back to you as soon as I can.
When should I get in touch?
Ideally early in your pregnancy, even right after a positive test. Many families look for their midwife in the first weeks, especially for care after the birth.
Can I come to your practice?
I do not have a practice to visit. All appointments take place in your home, so you never have to travel with your bump or your baby.
Will you visit me at home?
I visit families in Reutlingen and many places around it, for example Metzingen, Pliezhausen, Kirchentellinsfurt or Neckartenzlingen. You will find all places on the home page on the yellow town signs. Your town is not listed? Ask me anyway, sometimes it works out.
What happens during antenatal care?
During antenatal care we check regularly, in your home, how you and your baby are doing: blood pressure, urine, weight, your baby's position and heartbeat. I record the results in your maternity record (Mutterpass). Ultrasound scans are done by your gynaecologist. We decide together how to share out the appointments.
What is kinesio taping?
Kinesio tapes are elastic cotton strips that are stuck onto the skin. During pregnancy they can help with back, pelvic or sciatic pain, for example; after the birth with tension, pelvic floor recovery or a caesarean scar. We talk beforehand about whether taping suits you. It is usually not covered by health insurance; I will tell you the costs in advance.
What does it cost and what does health insurance cover?
Midwifery care during pregnancy and after the birth is covered by German statutory health insurance. After the first twelve weeks it covers visits depending on the reason, for example breastfeeding, or on a doctor's prescription. If you have private insurance or receive Beihilfe, please check reimbursement with your insurer beforehand. Kinesio taping is usually not covered. We are happy to discuss the details in person.
Do you still have room around my due date?
That depends on how many families I am caring for around your due date. I keep my availability up to date on MidiAid, where you can check it. You are also welcome to write to me directly and we will sort it out in person.
Can my partner be there?
Yes, of course. Your partner or support person is very welcome at conversations, check-ups and home visits after the birth. The family is at the centre of my work.
What happens after the birth?
After the birth I visit you at home. I look at your recovery and healing, at your baby's weight, navel and feeding, and answer your questions about breastfeeding, sleep and everyday life. Postnatal care covers the first twelve weeks after the birth. Beyond that I am there for you until your child's first birthday, for example with breastfeeding questions or on a doctor's prescription.
